Hi
Everyone!
Happy Spring! As I sit here typing away, blue sky peeks from between
puffy clouds as patches of spring snow on the Sapphire Mountains
beckon across the way. Snow squalls come and go, robins are back,
and I’ve heard rumors meadowlarks might even abound! New
calves are skipping across brown pastures beginning to green up.
And lengthening shadows on the river are saying days are getting
wonderfully longer. Hmmm! It’s springtime in the Rockies!
For
folks who continue to ask when I’m going to be performing
some of my music next…you need wonder no longer! On Tuesday,
April 8, 2008, at 9:45pm (Alaska time), I’ll be performing
at the 34th annual Alaska
Folk Festival up in Juneau, Alaska! For those who haven’t
been to the Folk Fest, it’s a wonderful festival, a week
long, free, with over a hundred performers (both first timers
and experienced artists) sharing their songs, hearts and stories.
It’s also one of the first harbingers of spring in Southeast
Alaska – where the winters can be mighty long and where
the Folk Fest starts the “bell” that summer –
and salmon fishing – is soon around the corner!!
KRNN
in Juneau broadcasts all the Folk Festival concerts live both
on the air and as streaming video on the KTOO.org
website. With just an internet connection, you can listen from
anywhere in the world! So for those of you (and I know you’re
out there!) who will be traveling to warm, sandy tropical beaches,
you too can tune in! All you need is an Internet connection, go
to KTOO.org
and then click on the “Listen Live Button.” You’ll
just need software capable of receiving mp3 format streaming audio.
If you need more info on how to connect up, go to the Alaska
Folk Festival site.
I’ll
be looking to line up some local (Missoula area) and possibly
even some small venue Northwest performances here later this year,
possibly as early as summer. If you’d like to hear more
of the music, stay tuned to this website for a future listing
of performances!
Have a great
spring and enjoy the unfolding of the season! Fish are soon a
‘bitin’ and it’s time to go play!! Take care!
-
Joni
